Hike to Berg Lake, August 2009

My Friend Susan and I hiked the Berg Lake Trail in August. We spent the first night at Whitehorn campground, and then the next two nights at Berg Lake campground. When we arrived at Berg Lake, it was time for an afternoon coffee, and we found a lovely flat boulder at the edge of the lake on which to brew-up an espresso and have a snack. That evening the light on the big mountain was lovely, with the calm water reflecting the splendour of Mt Robson, which is hard to take your eyes off of! On the hike up between Whitehorn and Berg Lake campgrounds the trail leads through the Valley of the Thousand Falls, at the top of which is the mighty mighty Emporer Falls. The power of all that water thundering over the abyss and crashing next to your puny insignificant existence is humbling, to say the least! Next day, we hiked up to Snowbird Pass, and scrambled up the ridge to get incredible views of the Reef Icefield. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera. Bummer!
